Strap in for another edition of my Newsletter. I am sure you have all been on the edge of your seats in anticipation.

It has been another busy month for my team and I (I can’t remember the last quiet one). I will share some of the things we have been up to. Operation Midesome. This has been my pride and joy for the last few months as i worked on executing a linked series of S.46 Firearms Act Search Warrants at 8 addresses. This involved over 200 police officers deployed on the night in question, including 60 armed officers. https://twitter.com/metpoliceuk/status/1288872760622686209?s=21 have a look at this link for some of the footage from the night. 5 arrests were made on the night. Two imitation firearms were recovered and two large cannabis factories were found. You may have seen this one on the news. I’m not bitter in the slightest that they quoted the Superintendent and not the Sergeant!..

Charges! Many of you will notice from Police posts that we often mention arrest numbers.. but it’s rare to see charges! We don’t let up, but going through the process with the Crown Prosecution Service can take months if not years. A search warrant my team executed in April 2019 has finally heeded a top result. Luke Goldsmith of Barons Walk, Shirley, has been charged with Possession with Intent to Supply Class A and B drugs and will appear before Croydon Magistrates Court.

Vehicle Stop- A vehicle stop this week on Parkhill road resulted in a male arrested for Possession with Intent to Supply Class B drugs. The investigation remains ongoing as a sack of drugs is sent to the lab for analysis. Is it reasonable to be carrying £5000 in cash? I thought the world had gone contactless!

Car Washes- In my previous newsletter I mentioned that my teams had attended some of the car washes across the Borough in order to check working conditions for staff. The short answer is there were no major issues to report and Trading Standards and the Department of Work and Pensions were happy with what they found. So don’t be put off using any of the car washes on the borough.

Warrant Shirley South- My team executed a warrant on an address in Shirley South. The address was clearly being sub-let so the council has been informed. A quantity of cannabis was also seized. Not a huge job this one in fairness but if you don’t buy a ticket you can’t win the raffle!

Double Warrant Shirley South- Those out and about this morning may have seen my team on the Shrublands estate. We executed two warrants linked to two subjects of interest to us for drug supply. We execute these simultaneously which takes a bit of coordination! So as to prevent any loss of evidence. We had some assistance this morning from the Violence Suppression Unit to bolster our numbers. Again, cannabis was seized as well as a (VERY!) realistic imitation Glock handgun. The investigation remains ongoing.

As always, if there are any issues you’d like us to look into please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Stay safe, Jamie
