Dear Resident
I hope you are all well, and enjoying the weather (when it’s not raining!)
I would like to say well done to all those in Years 5 and 6, from across the borough who competed earlier this month in the cross country at Lloyd Park.
Next week is half-term, I hope you will all have a good week off, whether you are staying at home or going away somewhere. It is also nearly Halloween, and if you are going out trick or treating, please be careful, go with someone or a group, be sensible, and also remember, if addresses don’t have pumpkins outside the front, or in a front window, please don’t knock or ring the door, as not everyone likes this, and it does scare some people.
As you can see from the crimes below, there are starting to be more burglaries/attempted burglaries in the area. Please remember when you go out, and when you go to bed, to lock all doors and windows, and if you have burglar alarms set them to the appropriate settings. We are now entering the run-up to Christmas, with the longer nights, and people starting to be out more after work and at weekends, so please be careful, and try to make your property as unattractive to burglars as possible.
The Ward Panel met on Monday 26/09/2022 at St Matthew’s Church, a week later than planned due to the death, period of National Mourning, and funeral of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. This was an extended meeting, as we had as our guest Donna Murray-Turner, the Chair of the Safer Neighbourhood Board for Croydon.
The Panel decided on the following 3 Priorities for the SNT (Safer Neighbourhood Team) to focus on for the next 3 months:
- Protection of Women and Children
- Patrolling Lloyd Park
- Vehicle Crime and Theft of Catalytic Converters
Please report ANY crimes through one of the 4 ways below:
- 999
- 101 (the non-emergency number for reporting crime);
- www.met.police.uk and choose the Report tab; or
- Croydon Police Station Front Office, which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Please DO NOT use the ward phone to report crime, as the team is not in everyday, it should only be used to make appointments with the team for reassurance and community visits.

| Attempted Burglary – The informant left the building locked and secured. When the informant returned 5 days later, unknown suspect(s) had attempted to lever open the door at various points and pull off the padlock, by using part of a concrete post with a metal bar in it. | Public Decency – The 3 school aged victims saw a male suspect they had seen a couple of months ago. The male was fully clothed near the Children’s Play Area, he then went into bushes, and came out naked, and walked towards them whilst masturbating. The victims made their way down towards the tram stop, where PS Saville, PCSO Thompson, and PCSO White were, carrying out robbery patrols, by Lloyd Park Café. PS Saville and PCSO Thompson carried out a search of the area, but found no suspect. | Section 4 Public Order Act – The victim was in the cafe getting coffee, whilst his wife, dog, friends, and their dog, were stood by the vehicle barrier, in the car park, by the grass. The male suspect kicked the victim’s friend’s dog in the face, causing bruising and a bleeding lip, as the male and female suspects were walking passed. The victim heard his wife’s scream and ran out, the suspects are about halfway into the park, but then turnaround, and start coming back towards the victim and his party, the victim sees the male suspect stop and take something off of the dog’s head, which turns out to be a muzzle. The victim confronts the suspects about the incident, who just laughed. The victim turned to leave and the suspect extended the dog lead, allowing the dog to jump almost onto the victim and almost bite him, however the dog was stopped just in time by the suspect. | Common Assault – The secondary school age victim, was walking by the side of the Café, with his friends, when the suspect aged 18-20 years, accosted him. The suspect slapped, and then punched the victim in the face, the punch caused the victim to fall backwards into the bush. | Exposure – The 2 secondary school age victims, approached PCSO White, by the entrance to Coombe Wood School, and stated that they saw 1 adult male and 2 adult females, naked on the grass bank, behind the tree, by the Frisbee golf course, close to the Children’s Play Area. The 3 adults then turned and went out of sight. The same victims, saw the same adults, in the same location, in the same state of undress, a week before the start of the Summer Holidays. | Near the Children’s Play Area, Lloyd Park | 15/09/2022 | 1545 |
| Burglary – The victim left their trainers outside of their flat door, when they went to put them on the following day, the trainers were gone. | Addiscombe Road | 16/09/2022-17/09/2022 | 1645-1000 |
| Attempted Burglary – The victim found a day after getting home, that an unknown suspect(s) had attempted to enter the property via a side window. The outer window pane was cracked, and an adjoining window was chipped, with marks on the window frame suggesting someone had attempted to force the window open. The victim then found a garden spade with a bend in the blade, matching the mark on the window frame. | Robbery – The victim was a delivery driver. He got out of his van, and went round to take the package out to deliver it. Whilst getting the package out, the victim was pulled from behind, swung to the ground, and the suspect grabbed the key off the victim’s wrist, and drove the van off towards Coombe Lane.
The victim flagged down Park Hill’s PC Gryson, and another officer. The victim called his employer, and through trackers on the van, they were able to locate it. After a locksmith was called to gain entry, the victim drove it back to the depot. |

| Exposure – Officers on Park Patrol were approached by a teenage male, who stated that he and his friends had seen a male, who his friends had seen the day before. | Theft – The victim left their bike locked and secured in the communal bike rack provided by the management company.
