
I found myself glad I had posted my Christmas cards in good time for once. Hopefully other users of the post box o Park Hill Road near the corner of Selborne Road did the same. The box is all wrapped up and unavailable waiting to be automated. It’s not April 1 but an internet search tells me about new features coming – solar panels will fuel the use of a QR code (I hope better than the one supposed to find the nearest working post box does – it’s distorted by the sticky tape). The mouth will be enlarged to take small parcels and you should be able to track posted items. A mini replacement for what the High Street PO does until it closes – if it does.
An article in “The Times” says that we are not alone. Royal Mail says upgrading could take weeks as each post box is individually measured and retrofitted at a centre in Gloucester. “Our postbox team is working hard to ensure that they are operational as quickly as possible. Meanwhile we have to walk through ice, snow and rain to find a working postbox/
